The design for Magic Folder representation described in docs/proposed/magic-folder/remote-to-local-sync.rst does not allow mutable files within a client DMD, so this ticket is invalid. (If somehow a mutable file did get linked into a client DMD, presumably manually rather than by the Magic Folder client, then it would be reasonable to replace it rather than mutate it.)
