Description
- setup.py is 427 lines
- _auto_deps.py is 90 lines
- around 25 lines of init.py are dedicated to dynamic version discovery
This complexity is probably not necessary.
- setup.py can be replaced by setup.cfg
- _auto_deps.py is ... unused? And can just be deleted?
- dynamic version discovery can be handed off to a tool like setuptools_scm
