LAFS Twice-Weekly Hack, 2014-04-17
==================================

“Nuts And Bolts Party”

in attendance: Zooko (scribe), Daira, tsygrl

Zooko reviewed `a work-in-progress patch`_ for `#2215 (mitigate
heartbleed vulnerability)`_

.. _a work-in-progress patch:

Daira is *finally* feeling comfortable with git. It took a *long* time.

Daira finished merging and fixing unit tests for a
clean-up/refactoring patch `#1847 (Ugly shadowing of
Client.DEFAULT_ENCODING_PARAMETERS)`_.

Zooko, Daira, and tsygrl looked at `#2208 (excluded from Debian
because of no-source-code-included files)`_, which is a blocker for
Tahoe-LAFS v1.10 being included in the new Debian stable, and *that*
is a blocker for Tahoe-LAFS being included as a standard tool in
Tails. Here is `a note Zooko wrote about how Tahoe-LAFS could be
useful to Tails users`_.

files): https://tahoe-lafs.org/trac/tahoe-lafs/ticket/2208

users: https://labs.riseup.net/code/issues/6227#note-20

Using the non-minified versions of all Javascript files would
eliminate questions about the source-availability of those files, and
Zooko and Daira agree that we shouldn't try to turn on minification,
or other such performance optimizations, without quantitative evidence
of how much (if any) it actually helps performance. So henceforth we
will have a policy of no minification unless it is quantitatively
justified.

A sufficiently new version of D3 appears to be packaged in Debian.

This coming Thursday's Tesla Coils and Corpses Party will be about
hash-based signatures!
