Do you have ticket numbers for these problems? Looking at the Python NEWS file
http://python.org/download/releases/2.6.5/NEWS.txt
there have been a large number of bugfixes between 2.6.2 and the
current stable release of Python 2.6 -- 2.6.5.
Hm, looking at the FreeBSD ports, it looks like Python 2.6.5 is the
current version packaged by ports:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/ports/lang/python26/
Why are you using Python 2.6.2?

P.S. Yes, as you mentioned, what version(s) of Python we support on
FreeBSD doesn't have a lot of effect on what version(s) of Python we
support on Windows.
